Tell the person you talk to that you are from "The Midwest Donzi Club"

There is a block of rooms being held for us at the Jamestown Resort with a special rate for club members. If you would like to leave your boat in the water for the event, docks are available for an extra $10.00 per day. Rafting boats will be allowed during the gathering due to the size of the group. If you are staying at the State Park Lodge, the State Dock Marina has covered slips available which can easily hold 3 or 4 boats per side. These slips go for $65.00 per day. Split 4 ways with friends equals $16.25 per day for a dock under cover. These slips are usually used for rental Houseboat storage to give you an idea of the size. Four 22' Donzi boats will fit no problem! These docks are first come first serve how-ever.

These five web sites will give you information on what is available in the area as far as accommodations, restaurants, and happenings during the weekend of the event. Lake Cumberland is a very large lake with many other places to stay for the weekend. You are not limited to staying at the Jamestown Marina facility. For those of you wishing to camp out to enjoy cooking out and relaxing by a open fire after a day on the lake, State Dock is located at the Jamestown State Park. This state park is on the same channel of the lake only across the other side from the Jamestown Marina facility. One important thing to remember as far as getting a camp site. It is first come, first serve pertaining to camp sites. For those of you needing a launch ramp to get your pride and joy on the lake, both of these facilities offer a ramp. A $15 charge per day is charged if you do not have a reservation at the facility where the ramp is located. The state park ramp is recommended because it offers trailer parking near the ramp itself. The Jamestown Marina ramp parking is at the top of the hill and will require a bit of a walk back to your boat or vehicle. If you choose to stay at a hotel in the town of Jamestown, remember to take into account the additional dollars per day to launch your Donzi. If you would like to stay in the area of our meeting place, MAKE RESERVATIONS EARLY!

Tentative Agenda

As the title mentions, this schedule is tentative. Once we all get together, some folks may have other ideas that we all may like. This is just a basic outline of what is planned. All times are Central time zone.

Thursday:

Thursday will be an arriving day. Especially for those coming from the longer distances. Most of the lodging facilities do not allow you to check-in until after 12:00. As we see the Donzi owners arrive, we will take in and admire each others boats. No planned trip to any certain part of the lake will be planned, but of course, you are free to venture out onto the lake and enjoy your boat. Maybe as you meet other Donzi owners, a ride in a model that you have not experienced before?

9:00pm
  • Attendee meeting at the Jamestown Yacht Club. Meeting will consist of an overview of planned weekend destinations, introductions of attendees, and a general timeline of events.

Friday:

12:00pm
  • Leave Jamestown Resort and head for Lees Ford Resort for lunch. (Be at the Jamestown Marker Buoy ready to leave)
6:30pm
  • Head back to Jamestown Resort. There will be a barbecue hamburger/hotdog dinner. The evening will be a get to know and learn from those wanting to tell stories and experiences. The subject of the story telling? Why Donzi boating of course!

Saturday:

9:00 - 11:00am
  • The Honest Joe Run - This consists of running your boat once each direction through a radar gun course. Go exactly the speed you predict to win the 1st ever at AOTH Honest Joe prize award.
11:00 - 11:30am
  • The Awakening of the Horses Fun Run - This is a poker run type event. You will be given tickets, a map if needed and we will travel to different locations on Lake Cumberland. This IS NOT a race GENTLEMEN! Enjoy the scenery and the fun of riding in your boat.
2:00 - 2:30pm
  • After the fun run, the afternoon is yours to spend how you wish. Have your appetite ready as the dinner to follow will be outstanding. You won't go away hungry!
6:00pm
  • Texas Barbecue Dinner - held at the Jamestown Resort Yacht Club.
8:00pm
  • Donated Items Auction - This auction is used to help fund future "Awakening of the Horses" gatherings. Proceeds from this auction are split between the Midwest Donzi Club and the Donzi Registry. With-out the Registry, there would be no Midwest Donzi Club. All we ask is that everyone attending, bring some type of item to be donated to the auction. Donzi items are of course best sellers, but anything you care to donate is welcomed!
  • There may be a few special awards for those involved in putting this gathering together. Thank-you each and everyone of you.
  • After the auction, it's social time. Break out your drinks and conversation. Pictures are usually a part of the evening as hopefully someone has been posting pictures all weekend to keep the Donzi Registry up date of happenings.

Sunday:

Possibly a cruise to somewhere on the lake before packing up and heading home. For a lot of us, it will be time to say good-bye to both new and old friends until the next Donzi gathering we happen to meet at again. For some, it may not be until AOTH VI next year. Please be safe until we meet again!
